While most people seem to think that George W. Bush is plotting to draft after he wins the election this November, you should know that there are two bills in Congress seeking to reinstate the draft- both being pushed by Democrats!
H.R. 163 and S. 89 were both introduced by Democrats Charles Rangel (NY) and Ernest Hollings (SC) respectively. The bills were introduced in January 2003 and would require both men and women to either perform mandatory military or civilian service. Both of these pieces of legislation are currently stalled and there's no indication that they are going anywhere anytime soon.
So let me clear this up ... the legislation to reinstate the draft was introduced by two liberal democrats. So for those of you who want to keep playing the scare tactic or if you had no idea, here it is.
INDIVIDUALS PUSHING H.R 163 & S.89 LEGISLATION THAT WOULD REINSTATE THE DRAFT
So if the draft is going to be a scare tactic, take a look at which party is pushing for the draft. Last time I checked President Bush was a Republican not a liberal Democrat.
